A list of ‘foodie’ songs, but these ones are actually about food or drink!
by John Pope on November 4, 2014
The internet is filled with lists of things, and there are literally thousands of lists of ‘foodie songs’, but…
What you’ll find is that most of these lists are actually full of songs that have a food in the title, or by a foodily named artist, but where the actual song has nothing to do with food at all.
So, we thought that we would see if we could make our own list of songs that really are about food, and if they are decent songs at the same time, then that is a definite bonus.
Please leave any thoughts and suggestions in the comments section, and we’ll add them to the article. For now, let’s start things off with these few:
Allo Darlin’ – Heartbeat Chilli
The first and last verses of this song could be an anthem for everything this website is about – the relationship between cooking and love, and how spending time in the kitchen with someone can be incredibly intimate and sexy.
A Tribe Called Quest – Ham ‘n’ eggs
You can’t go wrong with a bit of food related ATAQ, whether you decide to heed their cholesterol warnings or not.
“more butter, more butter, more butter, more…”
Kelis – Milshake
Questionably about a drink, but apparently the 73rd sexiest music video of all time.
The thing to bear in mind here is that when Kelis is not busy shaking her milk, she is also a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, has a range of Caribbean sauces on the market, fronted a cooking show, and released an album titled ‘Food’.
Presidents of the United States of America – Peaches
“Peaches come in a can, they were put there by a man” – Quite
Harry Nilssen – Coconut
I’m sure we’ve all made some questionable food and/or drink combinations at various times. The real lesson here is not to call the doctor in the middle of the night and tell him exactly what it is that you ate or drank, because you are unlikely to receive much sympathy.
